The latest Premier League transfer news and gossip - including stories on Chelsea, Newcastle, Man United and Tottenham

For most Premier League sides, the 2025/26 season is a mere baker’s half dozen (if that’s a thing?) of matches away from concluding.

We’ve got a title race, relegation battle and European football qualification dogfight (the least catchy term of the three, it must be said) all to be decided over the coming weeks, as England’s top tier resumes following the international break and FA Cup weekend.

While the expanded World Cup looks set to be a fascinating spectacle this summer - who can truly say they’re not simply giddy at the prospect of watching Jordan vs Algeria in the middle of the night? - Premier League clubs will have one thing on their mind: transfers.

It’s set to be another hectic window of wheeling and dealing, as the Premier League elite, perennial stalwarts and lively newcomers look to get one over on their rivals with some savvy summer recruitment. As we begin to contemplate the potential horror of covering a three-month long Morgan Rogers transfer saga, here are the latest Premier League rumours.

Chelsea linked with stunning £70m Lewis Hall raid

Chelsea selling a promising player only to realise they’ve made a terrible mistake, only to then buy them back later for an obscenely high price? We’ve seen this film before. Nemanja Matic? Check. Romelu Lukaku? Check. Graeme Le Saux? One for the old school there. Check.

According to Spanish rumour mill churners Fichajes, the Blues are ready to swallow their pride once again and re-sign a former player - this time in the shape of Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall. The Cobham graduate is said to be a £70m target to replace Marc Cucurella, who has been heavily linked with a big move to Barcelona.

The Blues aren’t the only club to be credited with an interest in Hall, however, with Arsenal and Manchester City both said to have joined Chelsea in an “intense race” for the England international. A race which the West London outfit are said to be leading, it’s worth noting.

The 3AM Verdict: From a Chelsea perspective, it makes sense. Bringing back a homegrown player - albeit it for an exorbitant fee, but Chelsea gonna Chelsea - would be a smart move, and the rising star has already showed he’s set for big things after a coming of age display against Barcelona in the Champions League last month.

Whether Newcastle would actually part company with Hall is another question altogether. Sandro Tonali looks to already have one foot out the door, and with Anthony Gordon’s St. James’ Park future also far from certain, losing a third star player in Hall would surely be a kamikaze move from the Magpies.

Tottenham ‘in talks’ to seal stunning free transfer

In 2026, bargains are regrettably few and fair between. Easter eggs seem to be half the size, double the price and contain about as much genuine cocoa as a pair of Wellington boots. Going to see your favourite band play live costs what you’d previously have paid for a week’s holiday in the Maldives, and booking a week in the Maldives now costs what any reasonable person would expect to pay for a private trip to orbit the moon.

Well, it seems that Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Liverpool are on a mission to bring back the humble bargain - they’re all said to be “in talks” to sign Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi on a free transfer in the summer, once his contract with the south coast side expires.

Caught Offside contend that the Blues are “growing increasingly aware of the need to add some experience” while Liverpool and Spurs are also in the running, given their likely need to replace Ibrahima Konate and Cristian Romero respectively.

The 3AM Verdict: This story notes that Senesi “could have very high wage demands” which you imagine could rule out Chelsea, who don’t pay the kind of big bucks they used to under their previous ownership.

Buried in the report is the suggestion that a move to La Liga is more likely, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid touted as potential destinations. One thing that is for sure if that staying with the Cherries looks highly unlikely, and a fresh start for the Argentina international in Spain makes a great deal of sense.

Liverpool send scout to Everton - but they’re not after a Toffee

A cheeky one from Sport Witness to round us off, this. Very cheeky indeed. They relay reports from Germany, which assert that Liverpool sent a scout ‘to Everton to source top target’ no doubt sending headline glancers from the blue side of the city into the deepest of anxiety spirals.

Are they coming for James Garner? Is Iliman Ndiaye finally off? Not Jordan Pickford. They surely wouldn’t take dear, sweet Jordan Pickford, would they?

Nope. The scouts were at the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the Ivory Coast’s friendly match against Scotland, with TSG Hoffenheim wonderkid Bazoumana Touré the apparent object of their admiring glances.

The report suggests that initial, rather wild claims of a €100m player valuation were wide of the mark, with €40m now deemed an acceptable value, which does have just the slightest whiff of price anchoring.

The 3AM Verdict: There’s no getting away from the fact that Liverpool need to replace Mohamed Salah this summer, and the club clearly seem to have some genuine interest in the player, after previous reports suggesting the Reds’ scouts have taken in his performances.

If the €40m figure is to believed, it’s likely to fall comfortably within Liverpool’s budget, and you’d expect them to be more willing to sanction the fee for a relatively unproven 20-year-old than Aston Villa, whose ongoing PSR concerns are well documented.
