Rangers are reportedly interested in bringing a Leeds United star north of the border.

Leeds supporters have seen a couple of their notable players be linked with moves away recently, with Pascal Struijk and Ao Tanaka seemingly having uncertain futures in West Yorkshire.

The Whites also have multiple players currently out on loan who do not appear to have futures at Elland Road when they return in the summer, with Mateo Joseph and Max Wober both certainly falling into this category; however, finding a permanent buyer for them may prove to be a challenge.

However, one Leeds player who is currently out on loan will be in high demand come the end of the season, with Rangers being the latest club to throw their name into the hat when it comes to potentially securing his signature.

Joe Gelhardt subject of Rangers’ transfer interest

Every Leeds supporter knew that Gelhardt was a talented player, but for one reason or another, the youngster saw his gametime reduced in recent seasons, especially since Daniel Farke took over as manager.

Since moving to Hull on loan, firstly in January of 2025, but again last summer, Gelhardt has had a new lease of life and has been incredible for the Tigers, especially this season.

Hull currently sit in 5th place in the Championship, with a four-point cushion to 7th, and they have not made it a secret that they would love to buy the player who has been key to their promotion push this season.

However, according to Weekend Sports journalist Sebastien Vidal on X, Rangers have been given the green light to pursue a deal, and the Scottish giants plan to “go on the offensive” for the Englishman, who is valued between £3-5million.

From a Leeds perspective, the more clubs interested in signing Gelhardt, the better and hopefully, a bidding war will ensue between Rangers and Hull in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Data suggests Joe Gelhardt has been incredible this season

If Leeds want to receive a sizeable fee for Gelhardt in the summer, then the forward must continue to put himself in the shop window with impressive performances for the remainder of Hull’s campaign.

The East Yorkshire outfit getting promoted to the top flight with Gelhardt as their talisman would certainly not hurt either, but up to this point, the 23-year-old has enjoyed an incredible campaign.

Gelhardt has scored 13 goals in 34 Championship appearances this season

In addition to this, he also has four assists to his name

Gelhardt’s numbers are even more impressive when you consider that he does not play as an out-and-out striker for Hull; instead, he tends to operate off that right flank and cut inside on that quality left foot he possesses.

It remains to be seen whether he could end the season so impressively to the point where Farke could end up reintegrating Gelhardt back into the squad at Leeds, but considering the lack of gametime he previosuly received under the German, Leeds fans could not begrudge Gelhardt for pursuing a permanent move away this summer.
