Opinion: Everton may be muscling in on successful Crystal Palace strategy amid transfer rumours

Everton have their eye on the Championship – and three targets have been recognised for the superb seasons they’ve had.

The Toffees are set for a busy summer, after keeping their powder dry in January.

Which of these players do you want to see Everton SIGN in 2026?

The following names have been suggested by fans on TalkingPoints…

Everton only brought in Tyrique George in the mid-season window, and it’s already looking like he could return to Chelsea after his loan.

So Everton will have cash to splash in the summer, and plenty could be splashed if Everton secure European football.

Everton have scouts all over the world seeking to get talented players to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It seems some players in the Championship have really caught the eye, and three targets have now been suggested as the best players in the division this term.

And those included the names for Championship Player of the Season.

Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney, wanted by Everton, has been nominated having been brilliantly consistent for Boro in their promotion push.

Millwall’s Femi Azeez also makes it in after a haul of eight goals and eight assists in 30 appearances so far. Azeez was linked with Everton last month.

And Zan Vipotnik is also shortlisted. Vipotnik is currently the top scorer in the Championship and of interest to Everton.

Everton could be seeking to copy successful Crystal Palace strategy

It’s interesting to see Everton looking to the English second tier ahead of the summer.

Clearly, the division has some really good players – and it has served clubs in the Premier League well down the years.

And one club to have benefitted perhaps more than most is Crystal Palace.

The Eagles picked up the likes of Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi (after his loan at Swansea City), and all have gone on to become top players.

Olise was actually nominated and also won Young Player of the Season while at Reading, just before making his move to Palace in the summer of 2021.

Palace also landed Adam Wharton from Blackburn Rovers midway through the 2023/24 season, and are now sitting on a huge asset with the midfielder.

There is absolutely value to be had going after Championship players, and seemingly Moyes wants a slice of the cake. So it’ll be interesting to see if Everton can land any of Hackney, Azeez or Vipotnik this summer.
