"I was ready to demand Slott’s head," Salah said, holding his fire on Liverpool’s disastrous…

Mohamed Salah, who is expected to leave the club at the end of the season, won praise for his professionalism after being left out of the starting line-up against Paris Saint-Germain. His attitude impressed former stars such as Stuart Pearce and Steven Gerrard.

Pierce, 68, noted that the forward embodied professionalism during his customary touchline warm-up, even after being overlooked for all five substitutions.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I’m watching from here as Mohamed Salah is also running [during the warm-up]… He’s at the front of the players, and sometimes this goes unnoticed.”

“If there is ever a time when a player’s behaviour is particularly poor, it is when Mohamed Salah is not selected for a match with six or seven games remaining in his Liverpool career, when the team needs a goal.”

“He has every chance to act up, yet there he is, running with the team in post-match fitness sessions and doing the work from box to box after games. So we must commend him for that; I know that’s his job.”

Gerrard also praised the forward’s professionalism and speculated that Salah was already focusing on next week’s Premier League outing.

The Anfield legend added: “He deserves credit; he stayed behind and did extra running after the match.”

He concluded: “He’s already thinking about Saturday’s game against Fulham, and that shows the professionalism and mentality he brings.”
