Danny Rohl told he must start Wolves loanee over 'shot to pieces' Rangers star as major issue…

The Rangers hero has looked at Danny Rohl’s side as they look to claim the Premiership title.

Kris Boyd has insisted Wolves loanee Nasser Djiga and Emmanuel Fernandez must be Rangers’ starting defensive pair for the title race run-in - as he questioned defensive changes.

The duo have formed a strong bond in recent weeks as Danny Rohl’s side sit second in the Premiership and a point off leaders Hearts. Rohl made three changes to his defence that defeated Aberdeen 4-1 against Dundee United, winning 4-2 against the Tangerines, but they had other chances to score.

James Tavernier, John Souttar and Jayden Meghoma came in with on-loan Wolves man Djiga also starting. Boyd knows an out and out goalscorer is sometimes missing but goals are flowing, but amid Souttar’s drop in form, he reckons Fernandez and Djiga have to be starting over the final six matches should Rangers look to claim glory.

Do Rangers have enough goals in their team?

Boyd said on the Warm Up alongside Celtic hero Chris Sutton and Scotland coach Steven Naismith: “It's something I've touched on all season with Rangers, that lack of killer instinct at the top end of the pitch. It's all well and good looking and saying, oh, you know. Dundee United have a header off the post and Rangers go up the pitch and score.

“That would have been 3-3 but Rangers won 4-2. Rangers could have won 6-2 at the weekend the amount of chances they had. I think we all know, we've all played with strikers where you know they only need half a chance, and it’s in the back of the net. It looks as if Rangers right now need to create seven, eight, nine chances to get a few goals.

“That can't continue because when the fixtures are coming up, you're going to need a striker in there who you just feel as if get him half a chance and he's got to score. But then you flip it the other way. Youssef Chermiti seems to be scoring against the top teams and not doing it against others.

What should Rangers defence look like?

“I mean, it's three one-on-ones on Saturday. I'm thinking, mate, you've got to score. You have to score. But he didn't. I think from Rangers overall, they're scoring goals. They do look a little bit vulnerable defensively, I may add. I think it has to be Djiga and Fernandez as the two centre-back’s from now to the end of the season.

“I mean, John Souttar, I don't know what's happened to him. He just looks shot to pieces confidence-wise, even at the weekend, when he came in. Danny Rohl made three defensive changes to the team that beat Aberdeen as well.

“So, I mean, there's... I wouldn't be chopping and changing your team, especially defensively. You know how big an impact they can have. You want that relationships whether it's your full-backs, your centre-back partner and even from the goalkeeper's point of view as well. So, I think for Rangers, the big one for me is on Sunday. If Rangers can go to Falkirk, get the three points and then they've got a home game to open up that top six, it gives them an opportunity. You're then into two massive away games against Hearts and Celtic.”
