Sky journalist: Nottingham Forest could get huge new Anderson fee after Man City & Man United…

Nottingham Forest are in line to bank plenty of cash if star midfielder Elliot Anderson joins either Man City or Man United this summer, according to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg.

Anderson has had the kind of campaign that changes a player's trajectory permanently.

The 23-year-old midfielder has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season, establishing himself as the engine room of Forest's side and earning a first senior England call-up in the process under Thomas Tuchel.

The statistics behind Anderson's season are striking.

At one point this season, he led the entire Premier League in total touches — accumulating 2,315, nearly 500 more than the next closest central midfielder in November— and topped the chart for line-breaking passes completed, responsible for over 30 per cent of Forest's total in that category (Gradient Sports).

He has also started all 31 of his Premier League appearances this season and posted a pass completion rate of 88 per cent throughout.

Anderson joined Forest from Newcastle for £35m in the summer of 2024, having come through the academy at St James' Park but never quite getting a sustained run in the first team.

He was once a concrete target for the Blues.

He has more than justified that fee many times over with his performances at the City Ground, and attention from the very top of the English game has followed.

Both United and City have been tracking him for some time, with both clubs said to be eager to move before his valuation increases further — particularly with the 2026 World Cup approaching, where Anderson is expected to feature prominently alongside Declan Rice for England (ESPN).

United face a significant rebuild of their own engine room with Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte both expected to depart.

Some reports suggest Anderson's more likely to join City as things stand, though United have consistently been told they remain in contention.

Nottingham Forest could get a mammoth new Elliot Anderson fee

Now, Sky Germany reporter Plettenberg has provided the clearest update on the situation yet.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Plettenberg confirmed that Forest expect Anderson to end up at either United or City if he does move on this summer.

Crucially, the journalist adds that no club has yet made direct contact with Forest over a deal — and that the City Ground hierarchy are holding firm on a sky-high price tag.

Indeed, Plettenberg reports that Evangelos Marinakis and may well get as much as £120 million for Anderson — as they demand a fee up to that value.

The size of that figure reflects both Anderson's importance to the club and his standing in the Premier League more broadly.

Forest appear to have accepted that the midfielder is likely to leave, but they have no intention of allowing that to happen at anything less than full market value.

Whether it is City or United who ultimately meet that asking price remains to be seen.

For now, the race is open, and Forest are in no rush to conclude it cheaply.
