In the Reds side today were three future Sky Blues (all now CCFPA members too). First, there was Steve Staunton (2003-05) and then Gary Gillespie, at Anfield between his two stints at Highfield Road. Third we saw the recently transferred Sky Blue David Speedie who got a good cheer from Sky Blue fans at Anfield. Future Sky Blues (all also now CCFPA members) David Burrows (1995-2000) and Mike Marsh (1994-95) were on Liverpool’s books at this time as well as Don Hutchison (2005-07)

The Sky Blues continued to slip from a mid table position as the season petered out. Though they won their next home game 3-0 against Derby County, a defeat at Southampton and a goalless draw at Highfield Road against Sheffield United followed and the 1990-91 season finished with a comprehensive 6-1 demolition at Highbury celebrated by new Champions Arsenal who finished seven points clear of runners up Liverpool.

The Sky Blues were relieved by a sixteenth place finish ten points and three positions clear of relegated Sunderland, and (well bottom a further ten points adrift) Derby County.
