Niclas Füllkrug is set to return to West Ham at the end of the current campaign after bombing in Serie A with Milan.
The German striker is current on loan for the remainder of the season with an option to buy between €5-10million, but has failed to secure a starting spot and has scored just once in his 15 appearances - most of which have come from the bench.
And while Corriere della Sera have reported that Milan have no intention whatsoever of triggering the option to make the transfer permanent, Rossoneri expert Andrea Longoni - writing in a recent column for Calciomercato - was damning in his summary of Füllkrug's impacy since moving from England.
Referring to a "two hopeless cases" in the Serie A side's front line, including Füllkrug's strike partner ex-Leipzig player Christopher Nkunku, Longoni added: "Füllkrug will certainly not stay [at Milan]. He didn't cost a transfer fee, but you still could have expected a little more."
Füllkrug's solitary goal for Milan since moving to Italy on 3 January came in a 1-0 win over Lecce on 18 January - a game that he started on the bench before scoring just three minutes after his introduction as a replacement for Christian Pulisic.
The frequently injured forward, who was 33 in February made just 13 starts for West Ham after moving to England in August 2024.
