Manchester United have concrete interest in signing Sandro Tonali this summer, but there are concerns growing about the Newcastle midfielder’s wage demands.
Among Manchester United’s 24 midfield targets heading into the summer transfer window, Sandro Tonali ranks fairly highly on Ineos’ shopping list.
There are some claims that Tonali is United’s top transfer target heading into the summer window, with Newcastle setting an £87m asking price for the Italy international.
But talkSPORT reports that United are wary about Tonali’s fee and wages representing “less value for money” compared to other targets.

What are Sandro Tonali’s wages at Newcastle United?
It has been claimed that Tonali is open to joining United, but Ineos would have to not only appease Newcastle’s asking price, but also match the player’s wage demands to make it happen.
According to Goal, Tonali is currently earning £120,000 per week at Newcastle, equating to just over £6.2 million per year.
It makes him the fourth-highest earner at Newcastle on his current deal.

It was reported by Sky Sports in January that Tonali agreed a secret contract extension with Newcastle, meaning his current deal is valid until 2029.
It means that Newcastle are in a strong negotiating position for the Italian as they are under no pressure to sell. Reports have claimed that Tonali has a gentleman’s agreement with Newcastle, though, which could help United’s chances of luring him away from St James’ Park.

How Sandro Tonali’s wages compare to Man United midfielders
Tonali is currently earning £120,000 per week, and he would likely want a pay rise if he made a big-money move to Old Trafford this summer.
According to United’s salary figures, Tonali would not even come close to matching the highest earners at Old Trafford. Casemiro is currently earning £350,000 per week, while Bruno Fernandes is on £300,000 per week.
