AIK Fotboll forced to take out loan amid Liverpool’s payment hold‑up

AIK are leaning on their own fans for help as they wait for a delayed multi‑million solidarity payment linked to Alexander Isak’s record move to Liverpool.

With cash flow squeezed and FIFA’s new payment system slowing things down, the Stockholm giants have turned once again to supporter‑run association Den Svarta Massan to bridge the gap.

According to Swedish outlet Fotboll Sthlm, AIK have applied for a loan of up to ten million kronor (around €920,000) from Den Svarta Massan, a financial association funded by fans buying shares to support the club.

The money is needed because AIK have yet to receive their slice of the Isak deal to Liverpool, worth a total of 33 million kronor in solidarity compensation under FIFA rules.

Those funds are now processed via the FIFA Clearing House rather than directly between clubs, and AIK say that change has led to “significant delays” in the payout reaching their account.

CEO Fredrik Söderberg confirmed both the loan application and the reasons behind it, stressing how important the Isak windfall is to the club’s finances:

“AIK FF has applied for a loan, and FIFA Clearing House’s significant delays to solidarity compensation payments have driven it,” he said. “For us, this is vital because the club will receive a large fee from the sale of Alexander Isak. FIFA owe SEK 33 million in total, and we do not know when they will pay it. Of that amount, 75% will go to AIK FF.”

Den Svarta Massan has previously stepped in to support AIK, including a five‑million‑kronor loan in 2025, and members almost unanimously approved that request.

A similar outcome is expected this time, which would allow AIK to stabilise their short‑term liquidity while they wait for their share of Liverpool’s blockbuster Isak transfer to finally land.

The Swedish striker managed 15 minutes of action against Paris Saint-Germain in his first action in four months, coming on instead of Mohamed Salah.
