Man United and Aston Villa could swap two midfielders this summer.

Manchester United’s main focus heading into the summer transfer window is expected to be strengthening their midfield. With Champions League qualification looking increasingly likely, manager Michael Carrick will be eager to reinforce the centre of the pitch and raise overall quality.

Among those on the radar are Carlos Baleba of Brighton & Hove Albion, Adam Wharton at Crystal Palace, and Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. However, a new name has now entered the conversation from Aston Villa.

Man United considering Villa star Onana

Any move for Onana is believed to require a fee in the region of £50m. While significant, his experience at both Premier League and European level, along with his physical presence, could make him an attractive addition to Carrick’s midfield setup.

Man United could swap Ugarte for Onana

Villa are thought to be among the clubs interested in Ugarte, raising the possibility of a swap arrangement. A deal could see Onana—valued at around £50m—move to United, with Ugarte, rated closer to £35m, heading in the opposite direction. United would likely need to include an additional fee to balance the deal.

Such a move could represent a major midfield upgrade for United, while also allowing them to recoup value for Ugarte. From the player’s perspective, a switch to Villa Park could offer more regular playing time and the opportunity to continue competing in Europe, potentially helping him rediscover his best form in the Premier League.
