Official: Andy Robertson to leave Liverpool at end of 2025/26

Andy Robertson has announced he will leave Liverpool at the end of his contract this summer, with the left-back ending a legendary nine-year spell at Anfield.

Robertson will depart the club at the end of the season, joining Mohamed Salah in confirming his decision before the campaign is over.

It comes less than a year after he was named vice-captain, having lost his place as first-choice left-back to Milos Kerkez.

The 32-year-old moves on having won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, two Carabao Cups, the Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the Community Shield.

He is also the second-highest assisting defender of all time in the Premier League, having set up 60 goals during his decade in the English top flight with Liverpool and first Hull City.

Robertson: “I know football moves on”

“It’s never easy leaving a club like Liverpool, it has been a huge part of mine and my family’s life for the last nine years,” Robertson said of his decision to leave.

“But for me, players move on, other people move on – the thing that stays the same is the club and obviously the fans.

“I’ve had an amazing nine years here. Look, I think it has been well-documented, especially over the last year or so, I’ve had opportunities to leave and I’ve not taken them because of how difficult it is to leave this club.

“And I wouldn’t change that for the world.

“But I know football moves on, I know teams move on and I think now is the time for me to move on and go wherever my next move is and wherever my career takes me.

“I’ll always look back on amazing memories at this football club, I’ve put my heart and soul into the club for nine years and I’ve not got many regrets. I’ve grown as a man and as a person.

“This club will always mean the world to me, the fans will mean the world to me. It has been a hell of a journey.”

Robertson joined Liverpool from Hull in a deal worth an initial £8 million, with his transfer effectively paid for by midfielder Kevin Stewart moving the other way for the same fee.

He has played 373 times for the Reds since his arrival in 2017, scoring 13 goals and assisting 69 in all competitions – including two goals and two assists in 31 games this season.

A true Liverpool legend who understood the club, the city and the supporters. Not just a great player but a great human and character off the pitch.

He will be truly missed at Liverpool.
