Leeds United may have to shelve any transfer plans with regards to Mateo Joseph due to a potentially serious injury sustained by the forward at loan club Real Mallorca.
Joseph has spent the 2025-26 season on loan with the LaLiga side and has openly admitted he would be interested in staying on permanently.
The 22-year-old has played 29 times in the Spanish top flight this season, starting 19 of those and accruing 1,705 minutes in total.
However, it appears Joseph will not feature again for Mallorca again this campaign.
And that could alter Leeds’ transfer plans for the summer, with a worrying update now emerging on the Spaniard.

However, it may well be that the speculation regarding the Spain Under-21s international now goes quiet while he recovers from a potentially long-term injury layoff.
Joseph injury blow could cause Leeds butterfly effect
If Joseph’s injury is indeed serious, it is safe to say he will not be leaving Elland Road in the summer transfer window.
That is a blow for the player, who clearly does not feature prominently in Daniel Farke‘s thoughts.
However, at the same time, it could create a butterfly effect of sorts. We have seen previously – not just at Leeds – how history can alter in these scenarios.

Joseph will likely still be on Leeds’ books next season and may get the odd chance once he is back from injury.
If he makes an impact in those appearances, all of a sudden he will be the classic ‘like a new signing’ for Farke to call upon.
For now, though, that seems a long way off. Joseph will just be praying the injury is not as bad as these initial reports sound.
