Real Madrid have reportedly entered the race to sign Michael Olise, handing Liverpool fresh competition for a player widely viewed as one of the most natural successors to Mohamed Salah.
The update comes from respected German journalist Christian Falk, who claims the Spanish giants could intensify their efforts to land the Bayern Munich winger.
Salah will leave Liverpool on a free transfer this summer despite his contract only expiring in 2027.
According to Falk, Real Madrid are seriously considering a move for Olise, while Bayern are not currently willing to entertain offers.
Falk reports: “Liverpool and Madrid have both been linked with a move for Olise, although prising him away from Bayern appears extremely unlikely.
“My sources have confirmed that Florentino Perez is keen to pursue a deal for Olise this summer, and after witnessing this level of performance, Madrid are even more determined to step up their efforts to bring him to the Bernabéu.
“Madrid are thinking of a €160m-165m [£137.9m-142.2m] offer for Olise, but Bayern are under pressure to sell him as the Frenchman has no release clause in his contract. The Bavarian giants have made it clear that they will not sell their prized asset even if they receive an offer in the region of €200m.”

Olise only joined Bayern in 2024, but has already established himself as one of their most dangerous attacking threats.
The Reds have been repeatedly linked with Olise in recent months as they prepare for the expected departure of Mohamed Salah, and interest from Real Madrid could complicate any potential move.
Steven Gerrard backed Olise as ideal Salah successor
Olise’s suitability as a Salah replacement has already been highlighted by Steven Gerrard, who suggested the winger would represent one of the best like-for-like options available.
Gerrard said: “Olise would be one, I would say, but I don’t think he’d be available, but from experience, being around Liverpool as a player, and also since I’ve left, Liverpool’s recruitment team will have different options, and that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll look for a like-for-like.”

The comparison makes sense stylistically as replacing Salah is not simply about numbers.
Olise possesses the left-footed creativity, dribbling flair and attacking intelligence required to operate on the right flank, the role Salah has made his own for nearly a decade.
His ability to glide past defenders in 1v1 situations is particularly appealing, especially as Liverpool look to maintain their attacking threat in wide areas in a post-Salah era.
Real Madrid’s unsurprising entry into the race signals that the competition for Olise could become intense if Bayern do become open to negotiations.
Liverpool’s recruitment team is expected to prioritise elite-level wide attackers in the coming window, with Salah’s anticipated exit leaving one of the biggest gaps the club has faced in modern history.
Should Bayern signal a genuine willingness to sell, interest from Real Madrid would almost certainly inflate both the transfer fee and wage demands.
