Tottenham receive massive injury setback ahead of Sunderland game, €55m star to undergo surgery

Tottenham have been hit with a boatload of injuries already this season.

Tottenham Hotspur have had a difficult campaign that has seen two managers being shuffled on the touchline, and now going into the weekend, yet another new head coach is set to take charge of his first game at Tottenham this season in Roberto de Zerbi.

But just as the former Brighton manager was getting used to things and players at Hotspur Way, he has received a massive injury blow (something that all managers at Tottenham have faced in the past years going into clutch games).

There were only signs recently that things are getting back on track with the club finally beginning to welcome back a few players going into the final stretch of the season, and just when another setback has arrived, this one feels particularly damaging when you consider the impact it could have on the outcome of the season.

Tottenham star face another blow that could end his season

Mohammed Kudus was initially sidelined with a thigh injury that he picked up against Sunderland. And the Ghana international was targeting a possible return in the early weeks of April. And there was a lot of optimism when he was spotted in the training for the North Londoners with the Lilywhites fans excited to finally welcome a player who’d bring some flair up top.

But now that optimism has faded as he picked up an injury in training. And by the early looks of it, he may be required to go under the scissors, which raises the real possibility that he doesn’t take part again in the ongoing 2025/26 season. (h/t Metro)

Kudus doubt for World Cup?

Kudus was having some impressive games when he started donning that Lilywhites badge. He brought that sense of directness and unpredictability as we saw him showing that ability to produce moments that open up even the stubborn blocks.

But like much of the ongoing 2025/26 Tottenham season, his impact at Hotspur Way was disrupted even before he could start running games for Tottenham like he used to do at West Ham.

This latest injury means Kudus is not only a doubt to reappear for Tottenham this season but also a question mark for Ghana for the upcoming World Cup in the United States of America.

Tottenham are sitting in 17th position going into the final stretch of the season, and this injury to Kudus could end up being the difference between whether they survive in the Premier League or find themselves in the Championship.
