'All keen': Three big European sides are now battling to sign Andy Robertson on a free transfer - journalist

Andy Robertson’s Liverpool exit was confirmed on Thursday with the left-back set to depart on a free transfer.

Robertson will bring the curtain down on nine terrific years with the Reds in which he cemented himself as one of the greatest left-backs in the club’s history.

At 32, the Scot is no longer part of Liverpool‘s starting XI, but there are clearly top teams out there who believe he has something more to offer. According to journalist Andy Hunter, all three of Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Napoli are in the race to sign Robertson.

Juventus, Atletico and Napoli fight for Robertson

Robertson clearly still feels he has plenty to offer at the highest level having been on the verge of a move to Tottenham in January.

Posting to X on Thursday evening, Hunter claimed that Spurs will once again be part of the conversation this summer, and will likely be joined by two big Italian clubs and one from Spain.

“Andy Robertson will leave Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the season, the club have confirmed,” said the journalist.

“Napoli, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Spurs all keen on the 32-year-old. A return to Scotland is not thought to be in his plans at this stage.”

With all three European clubs having designs on playing in next season’s Champions League, and Spurs likely – but not certain – to be in the Premier League once again, perhaps Robertson could face Liverpool next season.

If he does, the veteran will be due an almighty reception as one of the very best to have ever worn the red shirt.
