Newcastle United have one player at risk of a two-match Premier League ban.
The Brazilian picked up his ninth Premier League yellow card of the campaign during the Tyne-Wear derby defeat against Sunderland before the international break.
As per Premier League rules, any player who is booked 10 times in their club’s opening 32 matches is handed an automatic two-match ban.
Fortunately, the visit to Palace is the Magpies’ 32nd game of the season, meaning if Joelinton comes through unscathed he will no longer be at risk of an immediate ban.
But should he receive a caution, he will only be available for United’s last four matches as he’d be forced to sit out the next two against AFC Bournemouth and Arsenal.
Newcastle United hoping for double midfield boost
Newcastle have been light on midfielders in recent months but hope to be boosted by the return of captain Bruno Guimaraes and Lewis Miley for the visit to South London.
Miley hasn’t featured since the 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain in January due to muscle damage, while Guimaraes hasn’t played since the 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur in early February due to a hamstring problem.

Guimaraes underwent the first part of his rehab in Brazil before returning to Tyneside ahead of the Magpies’ 7-2 defeat to Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
The 28-year-old was present at the Camp Nou to cheer on his teammates but on his return contracted mumps. A video of him back on the training pitch this week has raised hope of him being involved at Selhurst Park.
