'I hope': West Ham defender issues unconvincing injury update ahead of Wolves clash

Jean-Clair Todibo missed West Ham’s 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa before the international break with a calf injury.

The central defender is now hoping to return to the starting line-up in the Hammers’ must-win game against Wolves.

While Todibo is expected to be available, his latest comments suggest it is not a foregone conclusion.

Sorry Pablo, but this team (if fit) are beating Wolves 👍

Jean-Clair Todibo feels ‘okay’ ahead of West Ham vs Wolves

Todibo did not project much confidence that he is 100 percent fit ahead of West Ham’s game against Wolves on Friday night.

“I’m feeling okay,” he told Premier League Productions, via whufc.com. “I’ve worked a lot since the injury.

“I hope I’m going to be okay for the game on Friday, and let’s see what happens.”

Todibo was pictured in team training earlier in the week, but perhaps he will spend another week on the sidelines.

If he were to miss the Wolves match, it would be another small setback in a frustrating few months for the Frenchman.

He missed two games with a suspension in March after receiving a red card for violent conduct against Chelsea’s Joao Pedro.

Wolverhampton Wanderers' Jose Sa punches clear under pressure from West Ham United's Max Kilman during the Premier League match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United at Molineux on January 3, 2026 in Wolverhampton, England.

“Unfortunately, I got the red card against Chelsea, so it stopped me a bit in terms of keeping the rhythm,” Todibo added.

“I was out for three games, and when I came back, the team were doing very well, so I had to sit on the bench.”

The 26-year-old also revealed that he was “very sad” about picking up a calf injury at this late stage of the season.

“It’s my first injury this year,” Todibo said. “I was very sad because I think it’s not the moment to be injured or have a red card, because I think we really need everyone in the team for this fight.”

Thankfully for West Ham, fellow centre-backs Axel Disasi and Dinos Mavropanos have also been in great form recently.
