Opinion - Andy Robertson's next steps after Liverpool exit could determine the future of Celtic …

Andy Robertson has confirmed that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, which could determine the future of one Celtic player.

Robertson has been linked with Celtic for several months now and announced in a video posted to Liverpool’s social media that “now’s the time for me to move on.”

As a boyhood Hoops fan, playing for a club that means so much to him would be the ultimate dream; however, it could come at the expense of one player currently at Parkhead.

Marcelo Saracchi’s Celtic future could be in doubt if Andy Robertson joins

Kieran Tierney and Marcelo Saracchi are the current left-back options in the squad and adding Champions League winner Robertson would create a real headache.

Forget trying to fit Tierney and his fellow Scotland international teammate into the same side, Saracchi will also be competing.

The Uruguayan has impressed Celtic supporters during his loan spell from Boca Juniors, and Martin O’Neill has found it difficult to incorporate both Tierney and Saracchi in the side.

If Robertson does end up signing this summer, it seems that will decide the future of the 27-year-old and that he will be on the move again.

The 2026 transfer window is still months away, but what is the number one position Celtic need to improve this summer?📝

Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin told BBC Radio Five Live that Robertson “has got far more left in his tank to just be sitting on the bench most of the time.”

He and Tierney would be jostling for the left-back position, unless the new manager coming in opts to revert to the same formation that Steve Clarke uses to allow them to play together for Scotland.
