Leeds have ‘strong interest in signing’ 16 G/A star – Player’s annoyance favours Farke’s side

Leeds United are keen on signing Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Haris Tabaković in the summer.

The striker’s performances for the Bundesliga side would have resulted in Leeds United’s interest.

In July 2025, Gladbach signed him on a season-long loan deal from TSG Hoffenheim, and the move has worked out well for all parties.

He scored 13 goals and contributed three assists from 30 matches in all competitions so far for the German club.

His Bundesliga stats this season are as follows:

Appearances: 27

Starts: 23

Total minutes: 1,965

Minutes per game: 73

Goals: 11

Assists: 2

Expected Goals: 11.0

Expected Assists: 0.74

Big chances missed: 7

Daniel Farke’s side want striker

Leeds United are keen on bringing the Switzerland-born Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Premier League.

That’s according to Bild, who initially relay claims made in Bosnia of Lille’s interest. The Ligue 1 side want the 31-year-old to replace Olivier Giroud next season.

The German newspaper then provides their own take on the Whites. It’s claimed the Whites have a ‘strong interest in signing’ Haris Tabaković in the next window.

Daniel Farke’s side can take advantage of his ‘annoyance’ of Borussia Mönchengladbach’s lack of efforts to secure his long-term stay.

As things stand, the player isn’t aware of the Bundesliga side’s plans for him after the loan spell.

“There are no talks, that’s all there is to say. For me, the only thing that matters now is giving everything for the club in the last six games, and then I’m looking forward to the World Cup,” he said.

“That’s not for me to say. I’m the kind of guy who always lives in the present and approaches things positively, taking them as they come. That means I’ll be with Hoffenheim for another year after this season.”

Meanwhile, Gladbach sporting director Rouven Schröder has used the financial constraint as the reason for their silence.

“With Tim Kleindienst, Shuto Machino, and Tomas Cvancara returning this summer, we already have several central strikers on our payroll,” Schröder explained.

“Haris has scored eleven goals in the league, is going to the World Cup, and everyone’s looking for a centre forward right now. But for us, it’s clear that he’s doing a fantastic job here, both on the pitch and in the locker room. He’ll give everything to stay in the Bundesliga!”

Our take: Bosnian can be good option for Leeds United

Danie Farke has Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Joël Piroe and Lukas Nmecha as the three strikers in the squad.

Suriname manager Henk ten Cate has already warned Piroe of lack of regular minutes at Elland Road. He could be on the move in the summer and Haris Tabaković can be a good option to replace him.

Tabaković will return to Hoffenheim in the summer, where he has a contract until 2027. His parent club would look to sell in the summer, to avoid losing him for free a year later.

Transfermarkt value him at €3m, and a fee slightly higher than this may be enough for Leeds United to secure his services.
