**Many West Ham fans were very disappointed on Sunday after we lost to Leeds for a chance of going to Wembley, as was I.**
The was we lost it was heartbreaking, 2-0 down, half the stadium gone, we somehow manage to make it 2-2, both goals in added time.
The atmosphere and the vibes in the London Stadium after we tied it up were incredible, the whole of extra time, Bowen’s on fire ringing round the stadium, it felt like the old European nights once again.
However, it all came crashing down in the penalty shootout. Despite young Fin Herrick saving the first Leeds penalty, Bowen and Pablo missed as we went on to lose 4-2, gutting.
However, the fight we showed to come back that late on could have only boosted the teams confidence in themselves, yes we went on to lose, but digging out two late goals in a game that looked dead was really impressive.
Obviously we all wanted to lose, but fighting back and giving ourselves a chance will be a whole lot better for our relegation battle than just folding and conceding the two goal (or maybe more) defeat and drowning in our sorrows.
That game taught us a lot, we need to improve, but we’ve got the fight, the fight to keep us in the Premier League. We need to show that fight and up the level against Wolves tonight and we will likely be out of the relegation zone come Monday evening.
It was heartbreaking, our best chance at Wembley in years. But the semi-final against Chelsea was probably only ever going to end one way, so, looking at it now, one less game while relegation rivals Leeds have an extra one could be crucial in the battle for survival.
