Newcastle United return to Premier League action on Sunday, down at Crystal Palace. Live on Sky Sports, kick-off is at 2pm.
That, of course, means that Eddie Howe has spoken to the media on Friday morning ahead of the game, where his first task, as always, is to deliver an update on injuries.
Fans have been hoping for good news around Bruno Guimaraes, who has been out of action since February, and of course, Lewis Miley, who has missed several comeback dates already.
Bruno gave fans a glimpse of his training the other day, wearing some video specs while he was put through his paces for a bit of content for social media, but does that mean he’s match-ready?
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the best of news from Eddie Howe on Friday morning as the gaffer confirmed that Bruno will miss Sunday’s game, and potentially the game against Bournemouth too.
Bruno Guimaraes contracted mumps when he returned to the UK after undergoing rehabilitation in Brazil, and that has set his rehab back enough to rule him out of at least one more game, possibly two.
On top of the Bruno setback, Howe confirmed that Fabian Schar’s return is being pushed back another month after picking up an infection in his foot.
“Bruno suffered on his return from Brazil with illness, that has delayed his return. Doubt over this game and the Bournemouth game. Maybe he will be back for Arsenal.
“Fabian Schär suffered an infection in his foot so he is in hospital having a minor surgery on that so he will be out for about a month. Everyone else, I think we are good.”
🚨 Mixed news on the INJURY front for #NUFC:
🤕 Fabian Schär has suffered an infection in his foot and will be out for another MONTH.
🇧🇷 Bruno Guimarães is back with the squad but won’t play at Crystal Palace on Sunday & is a doubt for Bournemouth next weekend.

It wasn’t all bad news, though, as Howe confirmed Lewis Miley is back in contention and is likely to be involved on Sunday at Selhurst Park.
It’s not the boost we were all hoping for, especially after seeing Bruno running around the training pitch in such good spirits, but we get the need to make sure he’s going to be 100% when he does return.
Howe did say that the rest of the squad is looking good, and having Miley back is huge.
