'I'm thinking': West Ham star out to respond after feeling like he let people down

West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen has issued something of a rallying cry before their huge game with Wolves on Friday night.

Indeed, West Ham United versus Wolves is as big as they come for Bowen and his teammates.

A positive result would see them pull out of the relegation zone for the first time in months, while defeat could be enough to throw their bid for Premier League survival off course.

Sorry Pablo, but this team (if fit) are beating Wolves 👍

Any changes?

The West Ham skipper is eager to get over the disappointment of missing his penalty in the FA Cup shootout defeat to Leeds last week, and believes the squad is in a good place.

Bowen wants to score against Wolves and believes West Ham are in a “good place”

Bowen apologised to West Ham fans for missing his penalty against Leeds, which was of course not necessary.

The forward has carried this team for so long that he really does not need to apologise for one missed penalty.

The best thing he can do, however, is get back on the horse and score in Friday night’s huge game.

Speaking to West Ham’s official website before the clash, Bowen said: “I think you have to acknowledge the downs, you have to have a day to be disappointed, be hurt, which I was on the day, but now you switch your mindset, that’s done, you can’t change what’s happened, so now you can go and change it on Friday.

“In my mind I’m thinking ‘go and score and go and win the game Friday’”.

The skipper also revealed that the squad was in a “good place” in the build-up to the season-defining clash.

“We’re in a good place, the changing room’s in a good place, the players are in a good place, and that’s the most important thing,” he added. “What we do on a day-to-day basis takes us into the game on the weekend.”

Bowen has a brilliant record when playing Wolves, having scored six goals in his 14 games against them.

The England international was built for these occasions. He has so often stepped up when needed and Friday is surely the biggest game since that famous night in Prague.

It would be brilliant to see Bowen do the business when it really matters again but, in all truth, it doesn’t really matter who scores on Friday night.

The ugliest of wins will do. Bowen cannot be expected to do everything alone.
