Andy Robertson will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, and AC Milan have been mentioned among the potential destinations.
The feeling had been there for a long time that Robertson’s nine-year stint with Liverpool would be coming to an end, and the pause in possible negotiations for a renewal was clear evidence of this.
Following the announcement of Mohamed Salah’s imminent exit, Liverpool have officially announced another departure at the end of the year, with the Scottish left-back following the Egyptian.
The press release reads as follows: “After nine hugely successful campaigns at Anfield, the Scotland captain will leave the club upon the expiry of his contract this summer.

“He will do so as a genuine Liverpool legend, having played a fundamental role in the successes of recent years over the course of his 373 appearances to date.
“Signed from Hull City in 2017, Robertson has won two Premier League titles, a Champions League, the FA Cup and two League Cups, as well as the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Community Shield.
“However, celebration of Robertson’s Liverpool legacy is firmly on hold until the conclusion of the campaign, with the No.26 fully focused on helping the Reds end 2025-26 as successfully as possible.”
Where next?
Robertson, who turned 32 on March 11, will now have to decide what his next career move will be. Calciomercato.com report that Milan could be a potential option for him, given the club are seeking an experienced left-back.
Pervis Estupinan was signed in the summer but has so far failed to live up to expectations and has lost his starting spot to the much younger Davide Bartesaghi. So, he could depart and Robertson may arrive as a sort of mentor to the Italian, especially if big Champions League nights return.
However, they add that the most likely option currently seems to be a return to his homeland, Scotland, where he’s being courted by both Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers.
