Fifth Champions League spot confirmed for Premier League

UEFA has confirmed the Premier League will have a fifth team in next season's Champions League.

The European Performance Spots were introduced as part of the format structure changes from 2024, allowing the two most successful associations an extra place in the league phase.

Following this week’s action, UEFA said: "England have now confirmed their place in the top two of the 2025/26 association club coefficients and have earned one of the European Performance Spots.

"Spain, Germany, Portugal and Italy have the next highest coefficients and one of them will take the second European Performance Spot."

Liverpool currently occupy fifth in the Premier League table on 49 points with seven games remaining.

Chelsea are one point further back, while Keith Andrews' Brentford, and Everton are both within three points of Arne Slot's team.
