David Moyes states his European aim with the Blues

The next two weeks could prove to be vital for Everton as they face Brentford in a crucial Premier League Gameweek 32 clash and Liverpool. The Blues are level on points with the Bees, and are only three points off their neighbours.

Everton last competed in Europe in 2017, where they finished bottom on four points and suffered heavy defeats to Atalanta and Lyon.

Since David Moyes has returned to the club he has steered Everton away from any relegation danger and got the club challenging for a European place, something which has excited the Blues boss.

"I'm wary of getting too caught up in it, but the fact of the matter is I want to talk about it. This club, this supporters have suffered so much.

"The thought of getting them back into Europe to me, makes me think it'd be fantastic for the supporters here and the club.

"The nights I had at West Ham in Europe were brilliant, Brilliant nights. I'm hoping I get that opportunity again."

Can Everton return to European competition?

The Premier League has secured a fifth Champions League spot due to Arsenal's late 1-0 victory over Sporting Lisbon. Everton are only three points off fifth and seem to be the team with the momentum due to their current form.

Moyes led Everton to the Round of 16 in the UEFA Cup back in 2007, where they got beat 4-2 by Fiorentina.

Under the Scotsman the Blues have enjoyed European adventures and the 62-year-old thinks that his side could handle Europe.

Moyes believes Everton can handle the demands of Europe

"I've been fortunate to play in the other competitions quite recently, and I know that if we're going to get there, we'd be able to hold our own in certain levels of it.

"I think the Champions League is a different thing to talk about but look if you said any Europe we'd be excited about it because we want to get back in amongst it.

"We want to start being talked about again and we've got a lot of good things going now, the stadium, we get one or two England international players who are getting talked about through the media more, so I hope we can keep it going."
