Andy Robertson may not be giving away much now, but he has discussed moving to Celtic before.
A boyhood supporter of the club, Robertson was released by the Hoops aged 15, being forced to rebuild his career at Queen’s Park.
On Thursday, Liverpool announced that the defender would be calling time on his nine years at Anfield, during which he has made over 370 appearances, winning nine trophies.
The inevitable question is now being asked, making it appropriate to revisit what he said about joining Celtic in 2022.

Andy Robertson considers move ‘every time he watches Celtic’
Asked if he thinks about joining Celtic on The Currie Club almost four years ago, Robertson said: “Every time I watch Celtic, I consider it.
“When you watch them and see a packed Celtic Park, as a fan you always have that dream.

“Ideally I want to finish my career here at Liverpool. If I can stay at the top of my game, at the top of the tree my whole career, that’s the route I want to go down.
“But also, when I look at Celtic and when I was growing up, I was thinking I wanted to give them my best years.
“When I was at Queen’s Park I had a dream of still playing with Celtic and always dreamed of giving my best years to Celtic.
“And now I don’t want to go as a 34 or 35-year-old old guy that my uncles start hating on me because I can’t move any more! Time will tell. I’m very much a person who lives in the moment.
“I don’t look too far ahead and I don’t often look back. There will be a time for that.”
Robertson is currently 32, leaving just two years before his self-imposed cut-off age. He has mostly been used from the bench for Liverpool this season.
A number of other clubs have already been linked with the Scotland captain, with Tottenham reportedly in pole position.

Would Andy Robertson join Celtic in the summer?
The obvious question mark over Celtic signing Robertson is the same dilemma that Scotland have faced over the last decade: the fact that you can only play with one left-back.
Steve Clarke worked around this by pushing Robertson forward as a wing-back, and having Kieran Tierney in a wide centre-half role.
But unless Celtic move away from their usual back four to accommodate the pair, they would find themselves in direct competition for a spot in the team.
If Robertson wants a nailed-on spot in the team at his next club, he will have more suitable options than Celtic – but wouldn’t be the first footballer to follow his heart over his head.
