Bournemouth have now confirmed that they are expecting the proposals to be ruled on by the council committee in late May, meaning they have had to alter the timelines for the project.

Previously, it was planned that they would add 1,500 seats of capacity for the start of next season, but that has been revised to 800, with only the north-west and south-east corners to be completed “shortly after the 2026/27 season has started”.

This also means that the club will be unable to offer more season tickets for the start of next season for max point holders, the club said.

A statement on the club website outlined the plans for the upcoming off-season.

The existing south stand will remain in place, and instead of starting with the lower tier of the new stand, they will start building the upper tier first.

That will be built behind the current stand during the course of next season.

Then, the construction of the lower tier will begin after the end of the season.

Elsewhere, the Cherries will focus on completing the enabling works, which have already been approved by the council, with work underway on this already.

That will see the outside broadcast compound completed, a new perimeter fence installed, extensions of the main stand wings and re-routed pedestrian and cycle paths.

There will also be the addition of more hospitality with main stand hospitality refurbished and east stand hospitality added.

This has seen some season ticket holders informed they will need to move their seats for next season, as reported.

“This revised programme reflects a necessary approach to the change in the planning timetable,” the club said in a statement.

“It will work to ensure that critical infrastructure and enabling works are delivered on schedule, while operational performance is protected.

“Unfortunately, the delay of the programme and reduction of incremental capacity from approximately 1,500 to 800 will not allow the club to offer new season tickets for the 26/27 season to max points holders.

“However, match by match tickets will still be offered in the same fashion as prior seasons. Max Points holders will be the first group offered new season tickets once the capacity uplift allows for it.

“The Club remains fully committed to delivering the stadium expansion project in a phased and deliverable manner, including the extended East and North Stands and remaining two corner infills after the 2026/27 season. The Club will continue to work closely with stakeholders to progress the scheme in a structured and responsible way.

“The above schedule is contingent on the relevant planning permission being granted later in May and construction timelines being achieved.”
