West Ham thrash Wolves 4-0 at home in the PL to pick 3 points in relegation battle

West Ham Utd comfortably defeated Wolves 4-0 at home in the Premier League and picked up a vital three point in their battle against relegation.

The Hammers scored their first goal just before the break and three others in the second half.

West Ham head coach made five changes to last week’s FA Cup defeat to Leeds. Crysencio Summerville, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Pablo and Tomas Soucek all returned to the starting lineup while Mads Hermansen replaced Areola in goals.

It was the home side who started off brightly as Mateus Fernandes sent a lovely ball into the penalty box, but Crysencio Summerville couldn’t connect right with the ball and ends up mis-hitting it on 15 minutes.

A minute later Wolves created a chance of their own as they came down the right-hand side and the ball comes into Yerson Mosquera who connects with the header but went wide.

Ten minutes later The Hammers came forward again and the ball dropped for Jarrod Bowen in the area after but does make a solid connection and his shot went straight at Jose Sa.

The home team then had another chance to take the lead when Kyle Walker-Peters cuts it back for Tomas Soucek but his effort curls wide on 34 minutes.

But the Hammers persistence paid off when Jarrod Bowen's corner was headed away but it comes back to him on the right and set ups for Konstantinos Mavropanos who headed in beautifully to put the home side 1-0 up three minutes before the break.

West Ham went into the break the better side and created the better chances. A much better first half performance to the game against Leeds last week.

HT Score- West Hm Utd-1-0- Wolves

The home side started the second half the same way they finished the first and came very close to doubling their lead when Bowen drove forward with pace and cuts onto his left foot and unleashes a curled effort which hits the upright on 55 minutes.

The Hammers kept coming forward looking for a second and this was achieved when Castellanos shot dribbles past goalkeeper Jose Sa after a little one-two with Pablo on 66 minutes.

Two minutes later things got better for the Hammers as Castellanos scored a second to put the home team 3-0 up. His goal was similar to his first as he coolly slotted it past Sa after a good counter break.

After this Wolves manager Rob Edwards decided to make changes in order to get back into the game but West Ham made it difficult for them as they were now sitting back in numbers and closing shop.

Wolves looked clearly defeatist and knew the game was over and this was evident when West Ham scored again when Mavropanos scored his second with a really good finish on the volley at the back post on 83 minutes to make 4-0 for the home team.

Victory for West Ham means they climb out of the relegation zone for the time being.
