Liverpool’s search for a new winger this summer is starting to take shape, and one somewhat surprise name now firmly in the mix is Bazoumana Toure.
According to German outlet BILD, the Hoffenheim wide man is among the Reds’ most serious targets as they look to refresh their attacking options under Arne Slot.
It is an interesting link, not least because Toure is not yet a household name across Europe. But dig a little deeper, and it’s easy to see why Liverpool might be circling. Here’s what you need to know about the Ivorian, and why he might be on his way to Anfield this summer.
Wirtz needs a rest, but who on earth is going to play right-back?
It surely won't be Gomez or Frimpong 😬

Key details on Liverpool-linked winger Traore
Toure is a 20-year-old winger who represents Ivory Coast at international level, adding a growing amount of senior experience despite his young age. Having made his debut in October 2025, he has since gone on to register five caps, scoring two goals.
Primarily operating on the flanks, Toure is most comfortable cutting in from the right onto his stronger left foot, a profile which aligns with a certain Mohamed Salah.
He made his move to Hoffenheim from Swedish side Hammarby in February 2025, and has steadily grown into a key figure in the Bundesliga. Still early in his career, Toure has already become a regular starter as Hoffenheim push for Champions League football.
At 20, he fits the mould of a player Liverpool often target: young, coachable and with plenty of upside. BILD’s reported £34m valuation also places him in the bracket of ‘high potential’ rather than ready-made superstar, something which may appeal to the Reds this summer.

Toure’s Bundesliga form shows why Liverpool are interested
While Toure is not yet a prolific goalscorer, his numbers this season highlight where his real strength lies. Though he has only two goals in 23 Bundesliga appearances, he has registered eight assists, underlining his ability to create chances and influence games in the final third.
That creative output would be a valuable addition for Liverpool, particularly as they look to evolve under Slot. Toure’s willingness to run at defenders, stretch play and deliver quality balls into dangerous areas is exactly what the Reds have been missing this season.

Of course, there is an element of risk. £34m is still a significant fee for a player who is far from being the finished article. But the upside is clear, and Toure appears to have the tools to develop into a high-level attacker.
If Liverpool are serious about refreshing their frontline with younger, dynamic options, this is exactly the kind of move that would make sense.
“Bazoumana is a high-talented and therefore also a very exciting player, who already possesses very good abilities at his young age and still has enormous potential for development,” Hoffenheim managing director Andreas Schicker told Bundesliga.com in December.
“He is a quick, technically strong and dangerous attacking player who fits in with our philosophy of play very well.”
