**Newcastle United’s hunt for talented youth has taken them to some interesting places, and now it looks like we can add Serbia to the list.**
While Newcastle’s [talent spotters in South American dig up gems](https://www.nufcblog.co.uk/2026/04/07/johan-martinez-signs-newcastle-untied-documents-report/) in the southern hemisphere, the European scouts are making sure they’re being recognised too, it seems.
The latest player to be linked with a move to Tyneside is 19-year-old Serbian midfielder Ognjen Ugresic.
Ugresic is thought to have caught the attention of plenty of clubs around Europe thanks to his performances for Partizan Belgrade.
A report from [Fussball Europa](https://www.fussballeuropa.com/news/exklusiv-newcastle-united-und-marseille-in-gesprachen-wegen-serben-juwel-ognjen-ugresic-2026-04) in Germany has claimed that Newcastle and Marseille are the two clubs that have made their move already.
According to their report, Newcastle are in ‘concrete talks’ for the teenager who has already established himself as a first-team regular after coming through the academy at Partizan Belgrade.
A fee of around £13 million is thought to be what it would take for Newcastle to bring the teenager to the Premier League.
Ognjen Ugresic has four goals and three assists in 29 league appearances this season and has been linked to other Premier League clubs too, including Manchester United.
We suspect there’s a good chance Newcastle has Ugresic on their radar. If he’s as good as the reports suggest, then we’d be crazy not to be watching him.
However, why is it a report coming out of Germany on a Serbian player who plays in the Serbian league, potentially going to an English team? That doesn’t add up to us.
**Rumour Rating**: 5/10 – This one is travelling fast around different sites, but a German-based source with no real track record commenting on English interest in a Serbia-based player leaves us naturally skeptical.
