Liverpool have been linked with a move for Hoffenheim wide man Bazoumana Toure in the summer transfer window, and now a new update has emerged.
Many wingers are likely to be looked at by the Reds in the coming months, following Mohamed Salah’s confirmation that he will leave the club at the end of this season.
The £34.8m-rated Toure has been talked about as an option for Liverpool this week, with the 20-year-old catching the eye with his performances in the Bundesliga.
Now, in quotes provided by TEAMtalk, journalist Christian Falk has claimed that Liverpool and Bayern Munich could battle for the signing of Toure this summer, also saying Salah won’t be heading to the German giants:
“It is NOT TRUE: Bayern Munich are prepared to sign Mo Salah on a free transfer this summer. Max Eberl already made it clear that the Egyptian isn’t a topic at FC Bayern. There is no offer for Salah – it’s simply not true.
“There are some interesting constellations, as everyone knows Salah is heading off this summer, and one possible successor that has been mooted for Liverpool is Bazoumana Toure.
“He’s also on the list of Bayern Munich. Perhaps they’ll enter talks for this player. And if both clubs are in for the Hoffenheim star, things could get very interesting! But they won’t enter talks with Salah.”
Bazoumana Toure and one more winger for Liverpool?
Toure would be a long-term signing rather than an immediate key man in Liverpool’s starting lineup, but he could be a fantastic option, being described as a player with “vast potential” by scout Jacek Kulig.
The Ivorian is versatile enough to be a threat on both the left and right wing, which could be perfect for the reigning Premier League champions, as they look to replace Salah and also provide Cody Gakpo with more competition.
But signing only Toure this summer wouldn’t be enough for the Reds out wide, with a marquee addition also needed – someone who could light up Anfield from the off on a consistent basis.
Bayern star Michael Olise is the dream choice for many, but whether they are willing to part with one of their best players is up for debate.
