Exclusive: West Ham board on survival hopes and Bowen omen after Wolves win

West Ham’s board have reacted to the brilliant 4-0 win over Wolves, what it means for their survival hopes and point out an unusual Jarrod Bowen omen.

Hammers News exclusive

The Hammers are out of the Premier League relegation zone after thumping Wolves in a must-win game on Friday night.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will stay there until at least next weekend if Spurs fail to beat Sunderland away on Sunday.

West Ham are the form side in the four-way battle with Tottenham, Forest and Leeds to beat the drop.

There is plenty to be positive about in east London as a host of key players, including Crysencio Summerville, returned to the side for the victory over Wolves.

The game also saw a welcome return to form for captain Jarrod Bowen.

There have been signs of late that Bowen was rediscovering his sharpness and that continued against Wolves.

Bowen twice hit the post with stinging efforts in the cup game against Leeds last time out.

The captain did the same again vs Wolves, going agonisingly close to adding another superb goal to his three assists on the night.

West Ham’s win piles the pressure on their relegation rivals and thoughts have now turned to what Nuno’s side need to do in the final six games to seal safety.

Unusual Bowen omen bodes well for West Ham

The Hammers board have now spoken on the club’s survival hopes and a Bowen omen after the Wolves win.

The top spokesman for West Ham’s owners has exclusively told Hammers News that hope springs eternal for survival after the resounding win.

Is he justifying his £27m price-tag now?

Taty Castellanos of West Ham United celebrates scoring their 3rd goal with Crysencio Summerville during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers at London Stadium on April 10, 2026 in London, United Kingdom.

And the board say history suggests there could be a Hammers goal avalanche after Bowen’s latest run-in with a goalpost.

“The result gives us some hope and great for the goal difference too!” a senior West Ham spokesman told Hammers News.

“We are hopeful now. There is a feeling eight points does it but we just have to aim to try and win every game.

“Jarrod looked back to his brilliant best.

“He’s been so unlucky, hitting the post three times in two games.

“Over a season a club scores five goals for each occasion it hits the post.”

That unusual statistic will give Nuno hope that many of those goals are still to come at the most crucial time during the final six games.

If the Hammers’ tentative points forecast is right then they believe 40 points could be enough to stay up.

It has been a great week for West Ham’s hopes of survival all round – especially after news from two of their rivals overnight.

First West Ham were boosted as Spurs suffered a serious new blow to a player described as ‘key’ by new boss Roberto De Zerbi.

Then it emerged that Leeds have lost three key players until May while another three are big doubts for their tough trip to Man United on Monday night.

The Hammers are one point behind injury-hit Leeds and play them at home on the final day of the season.
