A star from key Leeds United rivals has issued a confident message in the battle for Premier League survival.
Thriving West Ham United star Konstantinos Mavropanos has issued a confident message in his side’s battle for Premier League survival with Leeds United, Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest.
The Hammers began the weekend sat third-bottom in the division’s relegation zone, just one point behind fourth-bottom Tottenham Hotspur, three behind fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest and four points adrift of fifth-bottom Leeds.
The Irons, though, were presented with a huge chance to make big inroads as they played first on Friday night with a home clash against bottom-of-the-table Wolves.
“Because that’s what the club deserves”
Tottenham, meanwhile, visit Sunderland on Sunday afternoon in new boss Roberto De Zerbi’s first game in charge whilst Forest host Aston Villa at the same time, both in 2pm kick-offs.
Speaking post match to West Ham’s official website, Mavropanos said his team “deserved” such a victory and declared that the Irons will feel confident in their survival bid if current momentum is maintained.
The Greek star beamed: “I’m happy because I think the team deserves a win like this, and it’s a great feeling to get this win. Of course individual rewards are nice, but for me, I just always try to give my best for the team, because that’s what the club deserves.
“It’s perfect for everyone, because we’re a team and we stick together and fight together. I think the whole team has been really good over the last few weeks and months, and we’ve shown how much we want to fight until the end.
“I think we’ve seen the togetherness and chemistry, and it’s great to be able to show a performance like this in front of our fans, give them a win like this and play in such a brilliant atmosphere.
“Now, the only thing we have to do is to stay calm and keep this momentum. We have to keep working as hard as we have been doing over the last few weeks and months, and if we keep performing like this, we’ll be confident.”
