West Ham are among the teams keen on signing Juventus centre-back Federico Gatti, according to reports in the Italian media.

The 27-year-old could well be on the move this summer, with Juve looking to raise funds to make up for a shortfall in their finances.

Calciomercato.it claim that the Serie A giants would be prepared to offload Gatti for around €25m (£22m).

The Italian international is deemed one of the most valuable assets who they are willing to sell at the end of the season, and plenty of interest from the Premier League is expected.

It is believed that Newcastle, Leeds, Everton and Nottingham Forest are also keeping tabs on Gatti’s situation.

Obviously, both the Hammers and Forest will only be deemed viable destinations if they end up retaining their top-flight status, but the other three teams are regarded as concrete possibilities.

Gatti could be seen as an alternative to Disasi

There are concerns that Chelsea will price out Nuno Espirito Santo’s side from keeping Axel Disasi on a permanent basis this summer.

The Frenchman has performed well since moving to the London Stadium on loan at the beginning of February, and West Ham would be interested in retaining his services if they can avoid relegation.

However, Chelsea are hoping to use his form with the Irons to increase his asking price, and that could make an agreement over a transfer difficult.

With Gatti’s valuation being somewhat more reasonable, Nuno and the recruitment team have likely identified him as a more economical solution to strengthen the backline.
