It’s the news everybody was expecting, and that’s confirmation that Celtic-linked Andy Robertson will leave Liverpool in the summer.
Robertson is a popular player and a well-liked figure, as evidenced by praise from his Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.
Celtic hero van Dijk thanked Robertson for being ‘more than teammates, leaders, brothers’, while Salah stated that the left-back is a ‘legend.’
Rumours were already circulating about where the 32-year-old could end up next season, with Celtic getting a lot of mentions, and this news will only add more fire to those rumours.

Liverpool duo Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah hail Celtic-linked Andy Robertson as a ‘legend’
Van Dijk spent several legendary years in the colours of Celtic, cementing himself as one of the greats to wear the famous green and white colours.
While Robertson was on Celtic’s books as a youngster, he never got to experience that first-team chance, so could that dream become a reality in the summer?
Either way, van Dijk and Salah personally took to their Instagram accounts to thank Robertson for his efforts over the years, proving the type of man and player he is.

Van Dijk: “Nine years… that’s not just a chapter, that’s a whole era. And when you think about everything we’ve been through in that time, it’s pretty incredible. We know all good things eventually come to an end…
“Through the highs, the pressure, the big moments, and the celebrations, you’ve been there every step of the way. Together, we’ve won everything. But more than the trophies, it’s the memories, the battles, and the laughs along the way that we’ll remember most. We’ve been through everything together, big wins and tough defeats. But no matter what was happening, when the whistle blew, we knew we could count on each other. You’ve both been more than teammates, leaders, brothers, and men we could always count on when it mattered most.
“So thank you both for the effort, the commitment, the laughs, and the memories. Thank you for helping us win everything and for making the journey even better along the way. You came as teammates, you leave as legends… and more importantly, you leave as family.”
Salah: “With these pictures showing the bond we shared, I almost felt I could get away with saying nothing about you leaving. It’s been an honour to be your teammate and your friend. You’ve won it all, and you leave as a legend. I’m sure we will meet again.”
Celtic need Robertson’s character in the dressing room
Kieran Tierney is Celtic’s starting left-back; not only that, he is four years younger than Robertson, and has been one of the best players this season.
Added to that, Marcelo Saracchi, who is on loan from Boca Juniors, has done pretty well during his time in Glasgow, so the likelihood of Robertson joining decreases.
However, given the troubles Celtic have been through this season, regardless of whether it ends well and with a Premiership title.
Celtic need a character like Robertson in the dressing room, and you wonder if that alone is worth the Hoops trying to push for his signature.
Tottenham are favourites to sign Robertson, after being linked with the Scotland star in the winter, but all of that depends on whether they can maintain their status in the Premier League.
