Everton missed the chance to leapfrog Brentford in the hunt for UEFA Champions League football after a 2-2 draw.
The Toffees headed to London just three points away from fifth place – which is enough for UEFA Champions League qualification this season – but a brace from Igor Thiago prevented David Moyes and Everton from passing Keith Andrews and the Bees in the table.
Several players were not at their best – namely the disappointing James Tarkowski – and Idrissa Gueye also caused some angst for Moyes in the 12th minute after overhitting a simple pass to Vitalii Mykolenko.

Idrissa Gueye moment summed Everton up on stuttering afternoon at Brentford
Just 12 minutes into the clash in London, sloppiness was on show from Everton.
A promising attack saw Mykolenko overlap Gueye and burst into space down the left flank, only for the Senegal international to mess up his pass and fire the ball out of play.

It was a moment which clearly annoyed Moyes on the touchline, as the Glaswegian immediately put his head in his hands to show his disappointment.

Fortunately, it did not take the Senegal international too much time to make amends.
It was Gueye who chipped in a delightful cross for Beto to make it 1-1 in the 26th minute, after Jake O’Brien did well to shove Keane Lewis-Potter off the ball.
The 36-year-old was nearly involved in another goal for Everton too, slamming a low shot at Caoimhin Kelleher which was spilled and almost saw Beto prod in the rebound.

Gueye has a lot to prove at Everton in the final six games as he sees his contract expire at the end of the campaign, and despite irritating Moyes with his sloppy pass for Mykolenko, the former PSG star reacted well enough to prove he still has plenty to offer.
