This was a must-win game for West Ham United and they ended up making a statement of intent. While there was an element of luck in both of Taty’s goals, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side forced the issue by pressing Wolves high up the pitch.
That’s now five goals in 16 games for Taty, who sent a message on Instagram after the game.

Indeed, it is the collective that could keep the Irons in the Premier League this season. Goals from Taty help, but he is far from alone in helping push the team up the table.

It was a successful night for the former Lazio star.
Not everything came off for Taty on Friday night, but through sheer force of will he ended up scoring twice.
Neither goal was particularly flashy, but they did not need to be.
As per FotMob data, Taty scored twice from only three shots on target, while overperforming the xG he accumulated during the match (0.72).
Crucially, he also made five defensive contributions during the game, which helped West Ham keep a Wolves side who had threatened to build up a head of steam at bay.
