Now sitting 12 points adrift of safety with only six games remaining, it’s now just a matter of time until Burnley’s fate is sealed.

It was an otherwise okay performance from Burnley, who were at least competitive, and the story could perhaps have been different had two offside calls gone their way.

Jaidon Anthony scored what he thought was an early opener only to be denied by the offside flag, before Bashir Humphreys’ equaliser was ruled out in a similarly marginal decision.

Reflecting on Burnley’s defeat, Parker said: “I don't think there was anything really in the game. I don't think there was too much in the game.

“The goal comes at the wrong time for us in the first half. Playing against a very good side in very good form and you could see, certainly parts of that.

We're in a world of that if a computer technology or a robot says that it is us as humans, we'll accept that and just accept it for that's what it is, because that's what we've become accustomed to, to just accept.

“To me, it doesn't look like that. But, of course, I say that. I've become accustomed to saying: ‘well, if a robot says it is or he says this, then that must be true’ and that's just the way it is.”
