Curtis Jones was forced off at halftime in only his second start in seven games, with Arne Slot suggesting the quick turnaround does not favour featuring against PSG.
Jones was named in the starting lineup for only the ninth time in 2026 against the Cottagers, with the Scouser flanking Dominik Szoboszlai as Slot rotated his side.
He pulled up, however, just before halftime, and Slot later addressed the injury with Sky Sports, saying: “He felt a little bit, I think it’s groin, you say over here.
“It wasn’t [injured in] the moment, he felt it already for a few minutes.
“So let’s hope for the best. But I would be surprised if a player comes off that he’s available for Tuesday.

“But, I would almost say, ‘Welcome to our season’. Every time after a win, or after something good happens, there’s always an injury following it up, but it’s a win, and that’s what we should be really happy about.”
In his press conference, he reiterated the misfortune he feels has befallen Liverpool, before adding: “I really hope he’s available, because we need all the players we have, but I would doubt if that’s going to happen.”
Jones was tidy in possession (97 percent accuracy) and made the joint-most recoveries in the first half (five), before the injury, which will be of huge personal frustration.
As Slot noted, Liverpool have another quick turnaround ahead, with PSG making the trip to Anfield for the second leg of the quarter-final tie in three days.
It does not favour Jones in making a quick comeback, even if the issue is minor, as Liverpool will not want to take any risks.
It comes as yet another setback in Jones’ season, which has seen him fall out of favour with only two starts in the last seven games, which included being left unused at Galatasaray.
