Report : “Deemed Not Good Enough” | How Hammers convert is proving the doubters wrong

Much like every West Ham fan who has witnessed the club’s turnaround since December, Talk SPORT player turned pundit Tony Cascarino has marvelled at the impact Axel Disasi has had on the Hammers’ fortunes. Unwanted and languishing in the bomb squad at Stamford Bridge, Disasi played just a couple of times for the u21’s last year and came to West Ham labelled an outcast.

West Ham players celebrate scoring a goal

Axel Disasi:”Not good enough” Hammers fans would not agree

Anyone who witnessed the huge bear-hug he gave Nuno after the final whistle last night would have seen for themselves how much that win meant to even the ‘temporary’ Hammers loanee. As Cascarino said:

“What amazes me about football, Disasi, had been deemed not good enough, and Chelsea, by the way, need centre-halves and have been really poor in that position. He’s turned up at West Ham and played really well for them”

As Cascarino should have added, Disasi has not only impacted West Ham’s performance by his own, impressive football, but by the boost in confidence that his arrival has given team mates Mads Hermansen and Dinos Mavropanos ,who have visibly grown in stature and confidence since Disasi’s deadline day signing.

The £1.7 million loan fee which West Ham’s chairman David Sullivan paid Chelsea for the half-season loan is looking incredible value for money now, as West Ham have achieved fifteen points in eleven games since January, thanks in no small measure to the stability at the back which Disasi has engendered.

As even Chelsea fan site thechelseachronicle.com is forced to admit, ”

Axel Disasi has more clean sheets at West Ham than Chelsea have under Liam Rosenior!”

The big Frenchman is clearly enamoured with his Hammers coach and the welcome he’s received since arriving in east London. If the Hammers do survive, there will be enormous pressure on Sullivan to find the cash to make the move permanent – without selling one of the club’s top assets to pay for it.
