Scoring winner and beating league leaders Arsenal 'the best feeling' - Alex Scott

The midfielder scored the winning goal with an excellent, composed finish 15 minutes from time, as Evanilson touched a David Brooks pass onto the onrushing Scott to go one-on-one with David Raya.

But Scott’s goal was the cherry on top of a superb midfield performance, as Bournemouth deservedly brought all three points back to Dorset.

Speaking to BBC Radio Solent, Scott said: “[I’m] really happy.

“It's one of the tougher places to come and where they are at the minute, top of the league, fighting to win the Premier League, it was going to be really hard for us to come away with points here.

“We've had good games against Arsenal. Last year, beat them twice, and start of this year, weren't far off beating them as well.

“So, yeah, massive for us to come here and get the win. Obviously really happy with how I played and scored the winner. So, yeah, can't complain too much!”

Scott described his goal as “lovely” and said: “I'll have to watch it back, but I think Brooksy did well and tried to slide Eva in and he's just put a toe on it around the corner and felt like so much space to run into.

“Touch was okay, not too good. I had to dig out a little bit, but yeah, really happy with the finish.

“I think to have that composure there, in this stadium against this team, we have to take those chances and it's something we spoke about before the game, we're not going to get many chances, so when they come like that, you have to score them.

“So yeah, really pleased with how I dealt with it and put the ball away.”

Bournemouth’s press caused Arsenal all sorts of problems, and tactically they looked like they had the Gunners’ number.

On how they set up, Scott said: “We just wanted to be confident, play how we always do, the high press, tempo.

“There were a few tweaks we had to do, it involved myself as a six and it was a lot of work for the midfield there. Rotation is brilliant with Rice, Zubimendi and Havertz.

“So, it's so hard. You've got to be focused all the time.

“I think we did pretty well first half. They got out a few times, which we corrected at halftime.

“I think we came out the second half really quick and almost surprised them a little bit.

“We spoke about how quick they would come out, but I feel like we dominated the first maybe 10 minutes of the second half, and that put us in good stead for the rest of the game.

“To come here and get the win, it's honestly the best feeling.”
