Hurzeler told he might have to talk about Europe after latest win

Albion made it five wins from six on their return to action with a 2-0 success at Burnley to close the gap on teams above them.

While it is not clear where they will have to finish to secure a return to UEFA competition, we now know at least five teams will go into the Champions League.

Southampton and Leeds have the opportunity to make a Europa League spot tougher to grab if they win the FA Cup.

Head coach Hurzeler, who watched from the stand due to a touchline ban, said: “The results will always come if daily we have the right work ethic and the right behaviour. Now we try to go all in and play every game like it is a final.

“I’m not a big fan of talking about Europe, but we are known as a well-structured and well-run club.”

BBC TV’s Match Of The Day made something of a good-natured joke of Hurzeler not wanting to discuss Europe.

Former England striker Alan Shearer told viewers: “Now they are ninth, two points off Chelsea, so they are back in the hunt for a European place, definitely.”

And presenter Kelly Cates added with a smile: “And that's what Brighton will be targeting, even if they don't want to talk about it!”

Co-pundit Danny Murphy said: “They have been on a great run and they should be talking about Europe because they have got really good momentum.”
