Report: Jurgen Klopp 'agrees' to take over at Real Madrid

Some Liverpool fans might have been hoping against hope that Jurgen Klopp would soon be back in the Anfield dugout.

The German left in 2024 - having guided the Reds to all the major trophies in the club game. He had an unbreakable bond with fans inside the ground - one that Arne Slot has been unable to recreate.

The Dutchman finds himself under pressure owing to a poor second season in charge - with goodwill for the 2024/25 Premier League title win rapidly dwindling.

Klopp departed for a role at Red Bull - but looks ever more likely to returnto the head coach game in the near future.

But Merseyside is not on the agenda as a report in Defensa Central claims Klopp has reached an agreement to coach Real Madrid next season.

Klopp agrees to take over at Real Madrid

"Nothing is finalized, but there is an agreement in principle between Anas Laghrari, who wields considerable power behind the scenes, and Jürgen Klopp, for him to officially become Real Madrid's next coach next season," the report reads.

Real Madrid are enduring a difficult season - made all the worse by Friday night’s 1-1 draw against Girona. That result puts them effectively out of the Spanish title race - leaving Alvaro Arbeloa’s claim to the Madrid throne hanging by a thread.

They are unlikely to win in the Champions League either - considering their 2-1 deficit to Bayern Munich at the quarter-final stage ahead of the second leg.

Without a trophy there is zero chance for Arbeloa to continue in the role and that opens the door for Klopp.

Klopp wants five signings - including Haaland

According to the report the former Borussia Dortmund supremo wants FIVE signings at the Bernabeu - including two centre-backs, two midfielders as well as superstar striker Erling Haaland.

"The agreement in principle already has a foundation, with conditions and demands set by the German manager. These would involve the signing of two proven defenders, two proven midfielders, and Erling Haaland," says Ángel Torquemada as reported by Defensa Central.

Liverpool fans might feel a little let down by Klopp choosing to continue his head coach career following claims that he had effectively given up on that line of work.

But the lure of the Bernabeu is strong and right now he looks likely to be pitching up in the Spanish capital next season.
