Beto was on target for Everton to continue his good form.

But the feeling is that Everton will still go after a new marksman in the next window – and Slovenian striker Vipotnik is said to be on their radar.

Yesterday, Vipotnik took to the field for the first time since it was claimed Everton had been tracking him.

And he really showed why Everton and several other clubs want him this summer.

And he continued his fabulous scoring form on Saturday by scoring the only goal of the game in Swansea’s 1-0 win over relegation-threatened Leicester City.

The goal actually came from a Leicester free-kick. Swansea cleared their lines and then broke at pace.

And it was Vipotnik who provided the finish, smashing the ball into the top corner, the ball kissing the woodwork on its way in.

It was the kind of clinical finish that has really set him apart in the English second tier this season.

Wales Online were left impressed by Vipotnik, who handed him an 8/10 rating for his efforts – the highest mark for any player.

They said of him: “Brilliant finish for the goal after producing an equally important goal-line clearance towards the end of the first-half. Subbed.”

Everton warned it will take ‘proper money’ to sign Vipotnik

Vipotnik looks a real handful, and clearly his haul of goals this season makes him desirable.

Everton face a battle to sign him in the summer, but not just because there are other clubs in the mix.

Ahead of the game with Leicester, Swansea head coach Vitor Matos issued a stern message to the likes of Everton ahead of the summer.

He said (via BBC Sport): “That’s what we offer, that’s what we want. He knows our project, he knows what we want for us as a club for the future.

“He wants to be part of that, if he didn’t he would not have signed it (the new contract).

“Of course we are like all the clubs in football, there’s always a market and there’s always a market that can come.

“The good thing is that they need to come with proper money.”

With Vipotnik only recently signing a new deal, The Friedkin Group may well have to dig deep into their pockets to bring any deal to fruition.
