Manchester United are in the market for a central midfielder and transfer target Alex Scott just proved he is one of the best young talents in the Premier League.
Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes were dented on Saturday evening because of a 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth at home.
Manchester United have been scouting Alex Scott, and the transfer team at Old Trafford would have loved what they saw from the 22-year-old at The Emirates.
Ahead of the January window, United were keeping tabs on Scott, and that interest could be reignited this summer if he enjoys a strong finish to the 2025/26 campaign.

Alex Scott was the best player on the pitch vs Arsenal
Ineos have had success with Premier League signings, and that strategy is likely something that will be repeated this summer for United’s midfield overhaul.
Scott proved against Arsenal that, not only can he cut it in the Premier League, but also that he can dominate the league leaders in midfield.
In his post-match comments, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola praised Scott’s performance as “amazing”, and added that he has been at this level for months.

As per SofaScore, Scott was the best player on the pitch against Arsenal with a rating of 8.2
The Bournemouth star scored the winning goal – his third goal of the season – and also boasted a 91% passing accuracy, five defensive contributions and over 200 metres of dribbling distance.
Scott is in great form for Bournemouth and performances like this one against Arsenal will keep his name in the picture for United’s summer transfer business.

Elliot Anderson reacts to Alex Scott masterclass
While Scott is on United’s radar, it has been made clear that Elliot Anderson is United’s top target heading into the summer.
But with United expected to sign two midfielders, there is no reason why both couldn’t end up at Old Trafford for the 2026/27 season.

After beating Arsenal on Saturday, Scott took to Instagram to celebrate the win, and Anderson was quick to reply to his post.
Scott shared several photos from his performance without a caption, and Anderson replied with a fire emoji. United target Morgan Rogers also replied: “Top top level”.
