Crystal Palace set for talks to appoint 'elite' Premier League manager, he wants to join -…

Crystal Palace are interested in hiring Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola to replace Oliver Glasner, journalist Alan Nixon has suggested.

The Selhurst Park side are expected to hold talks with the Spanish tactician, who could leave Bournemouth at the end of his contract in June.

Iraola is open to a departure from the Dorset coast at the end of the season and has stalled talks over a new contract as he continues to consider his options.

Athletic Bilbao have also been linked with interest in the 43-year-old in recent weeks, as well as Tottenham, who appointed manager Roberto De Zerbi on a five-year deal earlier this month.

Andoni Iraola Open to Palace Move

Andoni Iraola applauds Bournemouth supporters

According to Nixon, Iraola has stalled contract talks with Bournemouth to keep Crystal Palace keen, having been on the Eagles’ shortlist for months.

While the Selhurst Park side feared he would be snapped up by Tottenham or Athletic Bilbao, Iraola is claimed to be willing to speak to Palace about his future, as he is interested in succeeding Glasner this summer.

Palace have included Iraola on their shortlist along with other Premier League-proven managers, including Sean Dyche and Marco Silva, whose contract with Fulham expires at the end of the season.

Dyche is available after his sacking at Nottingham Forest earlier this year and was linked with taking over at Spurs prior to De Zerbi’s appointment.

Bournemouth remain hopeful Iraola will commit his future to the club by signing a new deal, but are facing a lengthy wait as the ‘elite’ Spaniard considers all of his options.

Iraola led the south coast club to Premier League finishes of 12th and 9th in his first two seasons and is battling for European qualification this term, with Bournemouth currently sitting just three points off Chelsea in sixth.

Palace Eyeing Former Tottenham Boss

Thomas Frank

According to reports, Crystal Palace also have former Tottenham manager Thomas Frank on their shortlist to succeed Glasner, who is set to leave at the end of his contract in June.

Frank is available after his sacking at Tottenham in February, after just eight months in charge of the north London club.

The Danish tactician’s work at Brentford is believed to be a major factor driving Palace’s interest, even if his stock has dropped following an underwhelming spell at Spurs.

Frank secured just 13 wins in 38 games in charge of the north London side, taking just 10 points at home in the league.
