Danny Murphy makes admission that Everton fans will love ahead of Merseyside derby

Everton picked up a good point on the road against Brentford on Saturday afternoon.

Everton simply had to avoid defeat against the Bees, as they’re direct rivals for Europe this season.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s stoppage-time leveller kept the Toffees well in the mix for a Conference League or perhaps even Europa League finish.

Danny Murphy not looking forward to Everton vs Liverpool

Speaking on Match of the Day, Murphy explained that Everton’s attack is full of quality, and he admitted he’s not looking forward to the Merseyside derby next Sunday.

“That resilience is key, matched with the quality they have higher up the pitch,” the 49-year-old stated.

“You think of Dewsbury-Hall with his contribution, Ndiaye, even Beto is starting to score now.

“They are more of a threat; they’ve got more quality. He’s (Moyes) has done a wonderful job.

“Nobody gave Everton a chance of Europe, nobody. Unfortunately, it’s the derby next week, I’m a bit worried about that.”

Early thoughts ahead of the Merseyside Derby? 👀

It’ll be the first derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and it will have big consequences in the race for Europe.

There is still an outside chance of Everton qualifying for the Champions League, as they could close the gap to just two points if they beat the Reds.

That’ll be the team talk for Moyes, as his Toffees players have the chance to break a 13-year record.

They haven’t finished above Liverpool since 2013, when Moyes led his side to sixth place on 63 points.
