Castellanos spills the beans | What’s really driving him on at West Ham United

Taty Castellanos’ two goals on Friday night secured West Ham’s three points and helped the Hammers leapfrog Tottenham out of the relegation zone for the first time since January. Sitting precariously in 17th position, the Hammers know there is still much to do to engineer their “*great escape 2.0.*”

The Argentine striker has his own motivation to grab the goals that might well keep West Ham safe this season. Of course, helping save his domestic club is important to him, but he’s revealed he’s one eye on a bigger goal for the summer. As reported by capitalfootball.co.uk:

“Taty Castellanos dreams big: We have to keep going but if I do well at West Ham it might get me into Argentina’s World Cup squad”

Castellanos has just the two caps for his senior side at present and would dearly love to be part of the summer festival of football that will see several of his West Ham team mates participating.

Argentina ambition still driving ‘Taty’ Castellanos

As the report confirms, Castellanos’ rival for the striker spot in Argentina’s national side Joaquin Panichelli has just ruptured his ACL and so will be missing for months.

Taty, therefore, has double the incentive to keep getting onto the scoresheet. Far more physically demanding than he was used to, the striker admits that:

“Serie A is different to the Premier League. Here it’s end-to-end and it’s very physical. But I have settled in well.”

With a World Cup dream still spurring him on, Castellanos has five goals for the Irons so far – another five would do his dream no harm at all and would be warmly welcomed by West Ham fans in the club’s fight to retain Premier League status.

And should that lead to World Cup selection for Taty – it’d certainly add a dimension to the summer’s TV viewing for Hammers fans – especially if the club secures survival a few weeks before the World Cup finals begin on June 11th.
