'I don't want': Andy Robertson has a clear post-Liverpool plan that hints at big news in the coming weeks

Liverpool are losing another club legend at the end of the season, with Andy Robertson following Mohamed Salah out of Anfield.

The Scotsman’s future has been in question all season, but it’s now confirmed that Robertson will leave Liverpool this summer. A January exit almost materialised when serious interest came in from Spurs, but Arne Slot was adamant about keeping him around.

The door is open for him to leave at the end of his contract, and he doesn’t want to wait too long at all before securing his next club — especially given the busy summer that lies ahead.

How would you rate Andy Robertson’s trophy-laden Liverpool career?

Andy Robertson wants to sort move away from Liverpool before the World Cup

Robertson will captain his country at the World Cup, which will be right up there with the biggest moments of his storied career.

That will demand his full focus, so he would rather make arrangements for his club career before stepping on the plane in June.

Speaking to the media in the mixed zone this weekend, Robertson said: “I am fully focused on getting Liverpool to where I believe they belong, so I can leave them in the best place possible.

“I will be looking to sort my future out sooner rather than later. I don’t want to be going to the World Cup with anything hanging over my head, so there will be conversations and things like that, but as of yet, there’s nothing.

“I know the contract stuff was kept to ourselves – and this will be kept to ourselves. Until a decision is made, we’ll see where things land for me and my family.”

It seems like we won’t get too much of an idea where his head is at until such time as a decision has been made. That is, unless rumours begin to swirl from potential suitors around Europe.

As for his reasons: “I want to play, so that was where the discussions came. It’s not like I’ve knocked back a contract or anything; there was no contract on the table. It was a conversation we all had. It was a conversation of ‘OK, this is what I want to do, I want to play and I believe I’ve still got the ability to play.’ I think I have shown that this season.”

Claims of a verbal agreement between Andy Robertson and Spurs

The rumour mill has already begun spinning with regards to Robertson’s next destination. Interest is being reported from around Europe, with Napoli, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid all credited.

Closer to home, Spurs have reemerged as an option, and there are reports of a ‘verbal agreement’, released by TEAMtalk on Saturday, ‘dependent on Premier League survival’.

New manager Roberto De Zerbi admires Robertson, and it sounds like a realistic option.

As the Liverpool left-back said, nothing is set in stone yet. He wants to focus on the games ahead.

As he put it: “I am really focused on just trying to finish the season as strongly as possible because that’s what this club deserves from me. I’ve done that since day one and I won’t stop until I leave.”
